The Christmas That Almost Wasn't
(G) This is a gentle little fantasy that's a bit dated but still should appeal to baby boomers -- who may remember seeing it on TV -- and their kids and grandchildren. The story revolves around Santa needing rent money and his involvement with a self-professed tightwad, Phineas T. Prune. An attorney in a small town receives a surprise visit from Santa, to whom he had written as a child. As a boy, he told Santa that, if he helped him become a lawyer, he'd give Santa a hand if he ever needed it. So Santa takes him up on his promise. (1965)
