(unrated, but similar to a "G") Most critics
agree that Alastair Sim is the finest incarnation of
Ebeneezer Scrooge to ever hit the screen -- and I'm right
there with the rest of them. It's Sim who fully fleshes out
the role of the skinflint who is a tyrannical boss and a
penny-pinching crank. Viewers actually sympathize with Sim's
portrayal because he is so human, even though he is so cruel
that poor Bob Cratchit, his clerk, barely gets Christmas Day
off. It's a short movie that has a lot of depth and runs the
gamut of emotions, from curmudgeonly crabby to exhilaration.
